Quality Acupuncture Perth WA

An ancient technique using fine needles to promote healing and relaxation.

WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture is a 3000 year old ancient medical practice developed in China and is a part of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).

In traditional Chinese medicine, we view the body as a harmonious balance of vital energies that exist and travel through “meridians” or channels and organs of the body.  Disease or disorder in the body is linked to the understanding of “the flow” and “balance” of the body’s “vital energies” – “Qi” (pronounced “chee”), “Blood”, “Yin and Yang”.

At acupuncture clinics we aim to  treat both the cause of the disorder or disease together with the symptoms and bring the body back to health. We do this with acupuncture Chinese Medicine.

TREATMENT & TECHNIQUES

TREATMENT & TECHNIQUES

During a consultation, we take a comprehensive verbal case history with information on current signs and symptoms and overall health, together with past medical history. We also include examination procedures which derive information from the patient’s pulse (which is taken on both wrists) and a visual examination of the tongue. This allows us to make a differential diagnosis and to formulate an individual treatment for specific conditions.

Treatment consists of inserting fine, sterilised, single use, disposable acupuncture needles into acupuncture points along these meridians or channels to influence the body’s vital energy. After insertion you might feel a tingling sensation or mild dull ache which usually subsides quickly. The needles are then left in place for about 20 – 30 minutes while you rest. Most people find this a deeply relaxing and revitalizing experience.
