Quality Acupuncture in Perth WA

An ancient technique using fine needles to promote healing and relaxation.

Acupuncture is a 3000 year old ancient medical practice developed in China and is a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

In TCM, we view the body as a harmonious balance of vital energies that exist and travel through “meridians” or channels and organs of the body.  Disease or disorder in the body is linked to the understanding of “the flow” and “balance” of the body’s “vital energies” – “Qi” (pronounced “chee”), “Blood”, “Yin and Yang”.

Through acupuncture we aim to  treat both the cause of the disorder or disease together with the symptoms and bring the body back to health.

How can Acupuncture Help?

The aim of acupuncture is to boost the vital energies of the body and support it for a return to balance and good health. It can be used in the treatment of pain, stress and a wide range of conditions including but not limited to:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Respiratory disorders
  • Anxiety/Depression/Stress
  • Fertility & Pregnancy
  • Menstrual irregularities
  • Insomnia & sleep disorders
  • Skin problems
  • Injury recovery
  • Digestive disorders
  • Headaches & Migraines
  • Low energy

During a consultation, we take a comprehensive verbal case history with information on current signs and symptoms and overall health, together with past medical history. We also include examination procedures which derive information from the patient’s pulse (which is taken on both wrists) and a visual examination of the tongue. This allows us to make a differential diagnosis and to formulate an individual treatment for specific conditions.

Treatment consists of inserting fine, sterilised, single use, disposable acupuncture needles into acupuncture points along these meridians or channels to influence the body’s vital energy. After insertion you might feel a tingling sensation or mild dull ache which usually subsides quickly. The needles are then left in place for about 20 – 30 minutes while you rest. Most people find this a deeply relaxing and revitalizing experience.
